How to install Sintel BI

Installing Sintel BI for Microsoft 365

Sintel BI is available as an add-in for Microsoft 365 via AppSource. To start using it, you’ll need to add it to your Microsoft 365 tenant.

There are two ways to install the app:

• Option 1: A SharePoint Administrator installs Sintel BI for the organisation.

• Option 2: A SharePoint Site Owner requests the app for their specific site.

Option 1: SharePoint Administrator Installation

A SharePoint Administrator can install Sintel BI centrally, making it available across the entire organisation. This is a quick one-step process.

⚠️ Note: You’ll need access to the SharePoint Admin Center and permission to add apps to your Microsoft 365 tenant. If you’re not an admin, contact the person or team who manages your Microsoft 365 tenant—this is often your internal IT department or an external provider. Share this page with them, and they can reach out to us if they need help.

How to Add Sintel BI to the Tenant

1. Go to the SharePoint Admin Center: https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx#/home
2. Click More features.
3. Under Apps, click Open.
4. Choose App Catalog.
5. From the left-hand menu, click SharePoint Store.
6. Search for Sintel, then select Sintel BI.
7. Click Add to app catalog.
8. When prompted to deploy, select “Enable this app and add it to all sites”.
   This won’t insert the app into every site automatically—it just makes it available to be added.

ℹ️ Sintel BI is now available in your tenant app catalog and can be added to any site.

Option 2: Site Owner Requests the App

If you’re a SharePoint Site Owner and can’t install tenant-wide apps, you can request Sintel BI for your site. This involves two steps:

Step 1: Submit an App Request

1. Open your SharePoint site.
2. Click New > App or Settings > Add an app.
3. Choose From SharePoint Store.
4. Search for Sintel, select Sintel BI, then click Request.
5. Enter a reason for the request and click Send request.

You’ll see a confirmation that the request has been submitted.

Step 2: Admin Approves the Request

1. The SharePoint Administrator goes to the SharePoint Admin Center: https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx#/home
2. Click More features, then Open under Apps.
3. Open the App Catalog.
4. Select App Requests from the left-hand menu or click Manage requests of apps.
5. (Optional) Click “Try the new App requests page” if prompted.
6. Find the Sintel BI request, add a comment if desired, and click Approve and add this app.
7. Confirm the data access to complete the installation.

ℹ️ Sintel BI is now available in your tenant app catalog and can be added to any site.

Updating an Older Version of Sintel BI

If you’re using a version of Sintel BI released before 22 March 2022, you’ll need to remove it first. Follow the steps below to upgrade without losing your existing configurations.

Step 1: Remove the Old Version

1. Go to the SharePoint Admin Center: https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx#/home
2. Click More features, then Open under Apps.
3. Open the App Catalog.
4. Select Apps for SharePoint from the left menu or click the Distribute apps for SharePoint tile.
5. Find the current Sintel BI app and delete it.

⚠️ Important:
If the app was installed in a site collection app catalog rather than the tenant catalog, you’ll need to remove it from each individual site collection manually.

Step 2: Add the New Version

1. In the App Catalog, go to the SharePoint Store.
2. Search for Sintel, then select Sintel BI.
3. Click Add to app catalog.

Once added, site owners will be able to install the latest version on their sites.

ℹ️ If a site is still using an older version, the site owner will see a prompt offering the upgrade. They can simply click “Get it” to update.
