Sintel App Template Permissions

As mentioned in our how to Import/Export a Sintel BI App article– when you are exporting an app and creating an app template you can choose which settings you want to be included in the exported application. These include the General, Theme, Navigation, and Permissions settings.

When the permission setting is enabled any Sintel App Templates that are created will include the security applied to dashboards and navigation items within the app.

This setting supports SharePoint groups only so we recommend using SharePoint groups to apply security to dashboards and navigation items.

If security is included in the Sintel App Template then any of the SharePoint groups that are used by dashboards or navigation items in the app will be automatically created in the destination site when the app template is imported.

The app template can not include the individual members of the group as the users could vary from one tenant to another so the group membership has to be managed separately.
