Attachments
This article explains how the Attachments widget works in the Sintel Apps Designer and how to configure it on your form.
The Attachments widget allows users to upload and store files directly against the form item. Files are stored within the SharePoint list item itself.
What Is the Attachments Widget?
The Attachments widget enables users to:
- Upload files
- View attached files
- Download attachments
It is commonly used for:
- Supporting documentation
- Evidence files
- Screenshots
- Invoices
- Approval documents
How to Add the Attachments Widget
- Open the Layout tab in the Designer.
- Select Widgets in the left panel.
- Drag and drop Attachments onto your form.
- Position it within a section.
The widget will then appear on the form and allow file uploads.
Properties
When selecting the Attachments widget in the Layout tab, the following properties are available:
Title – The label displayed on the form.
Type – Set to Attachments.
Label Settings
You can configure: Label text, Label position and Tooltip
Tooltips are useful for giving users instructions such as: “Upload supporting documents (PDF, Word, Excel).”
Theme and Styling – The Attachments widget inherits the global form styling, including: Label font and size, Label colour and Body styling. Styling can be adjusted in the Theme and Styling section.
How It Works
Attachments:
-
Are stored with the SharePoint list item
-
Do not require a separate document library
-
Are accessible based on list permissions
Attachments vs Related Library
It is important to understand the difference:
Attachments
-
Stored directly on the list item
-
Simple configuration
-
Best for supporting files
Related Library
-
Uses a separate document library
-
Supports metadata and advanced document management
-
Suitable for structured document control
Use Attachments for simple uploads.
Use Related Library for structured document management.
