Using SharePoint Groups
Sintel Apps fully supports the use of SharePoint groups, for example:
-
Assigning actions
-
Limiting selection in Person-type fields
-
Driving workflow logic
As standard practice, any SharePoint group used in Sintel Apps must be configured so that all users can view the group’s members. This should be treated as a required setup step.
Why This Is Required
By default, Microsoft SharePoint groups are often set so that only group members can see who else is in the group.
Sintel Apps:
-
Operates strictly within the permissions of the signed-in user
-
Does not elevate or bypass permissions
If a user cannot see the members of a group:
-
Sintel Apps cannot resolve the group correctly
-
Actions or workflows that rely on the group may fail
What Happens If This Is Not Done
If group visibility is not configured correctly, you may experience:
-
Errors when actions run
-
Inconsistent behaviour between users
-
Workflows failing unexpectedly
This is most noticeable in environments where SharePoint groups are widely used.
What You Should Do
For every SharePoint group used in Sintel Apps:
- Open the group settings in SharePoint
- Ensure all users are allowed to view group membership
- Save the changes
