If you have received a request from a colleague to install Sintel Apps, it may relate to an upgrade of the existing Sintel Forms platform used within SharePoint.

Why this upgrade is required

Microsoft is retiring the SharePoint Add-In model, which was used by older SharePoint solutions, including Sintel Forms.

Sintel Apps is the modern replacement built using the SharePoint Framework (SPFx) — Microsoft’s current development model for SharePoint Online.

Moving to this architecture ensures:

• Continued compatibility with Microsoft 365

• Improved performance and reliability

• Compliance with Microsoft’s modern security standards

• Ongoing product updates and support

Sintel Forms has therefore been rebuilt as Sintel Apps.

What is Sintel Apps

Sintel Apps is a SharePoint-based form and workflow platform used to build structured business processes such as:

• Internal request forms

• Approval workflows

• Structured data capture processes

All form data is stored in standard SharePoint lists.

Sintel Apps simply provides the user interface, logic, and workflow layer on top of SharePoint.

What IT Administrators need to do

To enable the upgrade, Sintel Apps must be installed in the Microsoft 365 tenant.

This is a standard SharePoint Framework (SPFx) solution installation.

Once installed:

• Site owners can add Sintel Apps to their sites

• Existing forms can be upgraded safely using the built-in upgrade wizard within Sintel Apps

What the installation does

Installing Sintel Apps:

✔ Adds the Sintel Apps SPFx solution to your tenant
✔ Enables the new Sintel Apps Designer and workflow engine
✔ Allows sites to install the Sintel Apps application

The installation does not modify existing SharePoint lists or data.

Existing forms remain unchanged until the upgrade process is run.

Sintel Apps follows Microsoft’s modern SharePoint architecture standards:

• Built using SharePoint Framework (SPFx)

• Distributed through Microsoft AppSource / SharePoint Store

What happens after installation

After Sintel Apps is installed, administrators or form owners can upgrade their existing forms.
