New Localisation
Sintel Forms Localisation
In our September 2023 release (v1.43) we have introduced a new localisation feature that supports 9 new languages.
Supported languages
- Danish
- Finnish
- French
- German
- Irish
- Italian
- Polish
- Portuguese
- Spanish
Users will now be able to choose from any of the 9 new languages and this will change the UI language in the form viewer and all system messages.
The feature includes:
- Automatic user language recognition to detect the user’s default language.
- A language switcher which allows users to change the display language.
- Storing the last selected language in the context of the user and the form.
Rollout
The feature has been rolled out in our September 2023 release (v1.43) and is available for all forms.
End of support for the legacy localisation
We are retiring the previous localisation feature and it will no longer be available in all forms created after the 1.43 release as well as in all existing forms where the old feature was not used.
For forms that utilized the legacy localization feature and involved customizing default texts, users will have the option to opt into the new functionality. However, it’s important to note that any customizations made will be lost. The new language picker and associated localization options will become accessible only after transitioning to the new functionality.
Upgrading to the new Localisation feature
All new forms (and existing forms without localisation customisations) will be automatically switched to the new Localisation feature.
Forms that already contain customised labels will get the option to switch to the new functionality as shown in the image below:
Disabling Localisation
It is possible to disable the language picker and choose a single common language for all users of a form. To achieve this, navigate to the Localisation settings in the Sintel Forms Designer, disable the Allow switching languages option, and select the desired language.
When these settings are configured, no language picker will be displayed on the form and all users will be presented with the single common language that was selected.
